Adinkra symbols were originally created by the Akan of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d'Ivoire in West Africa that represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in fabrics, pottery, and carved on stools. The symbols have a decorative function but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom, aspects of life or the environment.

These necklace pendants are stamped clay and carefully brushed with glaze. Each is on a cord for wearing, or can be placed in a medicine bag or on your altar. Each is imbued with the energy of it's symbolic meaning as shown in the second picture.
